Dog Shows
Forest Grove Rat Terriers participates in dog shows as part of our commitment to responsible breeding and breed preservation. Showing our dogs allows us to evaluate structure, movement, and temperament against the Rat Terrier breed standard and helps guide informed breeding decisions.
Participation in shows is not about competition alone, but about maintaining accountability to the breed.
Why We Participate in Dog Shows
Dog shows provide an opportunity to have our dogs evaluated by knowledgeable judges in a structured setting. These evaluations help confirm that our dogs represent the Rat Terrier breed in both appearance and temperament.
Showing allows us to:
- Assess structure, balance, and movement
- Confirm breed type and adherence to the standard
- Evaluate temperament in busy, distracting environments
- Support thoughtful, responsible breeding decisions
Shows & Events
Our dogs may participate in conformation shows and other events as appropriate. Participation varies based on the individual dog, age, and readiness, and not every dog in our program is shown.
We believe that quality and suitability matter more than quantity of titles.
Relationship to Our Breeding Program
Experience in the show ring helps us make better breeding decisions by providing objective feedback on our dogs. This information is considered alongside health, temperament, and compatibility when planning future breedings.
Titles and placements are recognized, but they are only one piece of the overall picture.
Show Results & Achievements
Specific show results, placements, and titles are shared on our Show Brags page.
